John Alpay running for South Orange County Community College Board
As a businessman, educator and parent, John is committed to the proper use of precious tax dollars in Orange County’s community colleges while providing a world class education. Having worked as an executive at Oakley and Samsung, and served as Board Member for the South Orange County Economic Coalition he understands the need for a skilled workforce. John seeks increased public private partnerships at community colleges where students learn relevant skills that translate to high paying quality jobs. As Governing Board Member for Capistrano Unified, John successfully advocated for reducing property taxes, saving taxpayers $61.1 million by eliminating Mello-Roos assessments in Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo and Rancho Santa Margarita, and refinancing bond obligations in San Clemente and Ladera Ranch, all while innovating and improving classroom instruction.
Ben Bartlett, a strong supporter of the Turkish-American community who is married to a Turkish American, is running for Berkeley City Council – District III. Ben is an attorney, South Berkeley native, and respected community leader whose campaign is focused on responsive government, inclusion, and environmental sustainability:
